Investing via fax: TNRO

I have not done one of these articles in a while so I decided to write one up with a small twist. Usually I write about those awesome stock tips I get via email, this time I’m going to write about the other form of spam stock tips, the ones you get over your fax machine!

Yes, you know those ones. They often have a “call this number to be removed” line that never seems to work. This is one of those types of faxes. So, sit down and prepare to be entertained!

Your real start in China success begins today
Massive construction boom rockets Terra Nostra (TNRO) revenues to record high of $111.9 million for six months

The fax sheet begins by telling you how the time to buy in China is now as the Chinese companies that still trade on the American exchanges are ones that have made it through the initial China dot com boom.

They further point out that, because this company made $111.9 million in the past six months it should make the same in the next six months which would put it at $220 million for the year.

The fax goes on to say that investing in construction is perfect in China because the countries has been adding over 668 cities in less than 20 years. Obviously investing in a construction company must be profitable because of all of the construction work going on! That may well be true in a capitalist society but, China is not exactly known for being a capitalist country, especially over the last 20 years!

Now, you may be thinking this is all about buy stock in a construction company, guess again. This is actually a ploy to get you to invest in a company that supplies copper and stainless steel to the construction companies.

I did a little bit of investigating…

TNRO

This fax was delivered on the 9th of March, notice something fishy?

If you look back through the charts you will see that the stock just about bottomed out in December of 2006 near $1.50 and there was a lot of trading going on after that.

I guess the lesson to be learned here is that if you want to make a quick killing on a stock buy it low. Then, hire a fax firm to send out an investment alert fax. A certain number of folks will buy the stock (hopefully from you) and then you can always buy it back the next day after it drops!

I’ll do a follow up on this one in a few months, or when the next stock alert fax comes over!

Oct. 22, 2007 It’s 2:28pm EST and tnro is $5.60/share. It has only gone up since last week when I got the fax. I should have bought then when it was around $3/share.

    hhhhmmmmmmm

I believe this is a false inflation, just look at the small number of shares being traded. I give it 7 days before it is back to $2.50/share

got the fax sheet ,was at 3.15 sat and watched what a mistake that was ,stocks like this you get in fast and get out just as fast not for the faint at heart.

  12. doug, October 24, 2007:

If you take a detailed look at this company, it is real. With the industrial growth in China, there are plenty of opportunities to make money honestly. On new ventures, partners keep each other in line.

  13. Gary, October 24, 2007:

Yes, it is a real company. It has to be in order to be publicly traded. However, if you look at all the upbeat reports you will realize they are press releases FROM THE COMPANY. When you research back into 2006 you will see that the only upswings this company has is when THEY go on a fax blitz to create their own buzz. Just like before, it goes way up for a few days and then drops like a rock until the next time. This stock will not go back above $5.00 until the next fax campaign in a few months.

  14. DEE, October 25, 2007:

If you looked at tnro a few weeks ago it was $1.60 I think it reached a high of $5.90 just two weeks later. The profit level for those that got in two weeks ago is insane! This stock just ran and ran. Yesterday a nasty report came out and tanked the stock. One of the biggest short players in the country put it out. I suspect it will drop more an then bounce back to some degree. When this outfit goes short there is no telling how far he will go to win. You can make some major money in these campaigns but you can also lose some or all if you dont know what you are doing. People play these stocks because they do make fast money when they know who to follow. These kind of stocks are not the kind you sit in for years or even months. It is a week or two at best. YOU have to use your best common sense and remove all greed. Sometimes they go up fast and down fast and back up again so you can play the bounces over and over. Again dont play if you dont know the penny market cause you can loose more than your butt. As far as faxes, who cares? I throw them in the trash. I’m not going to get heated up over a fax or email. This is business in america whats left of it. Americans making money before another industry gets handed over to the indians, russians or chinese. We are way to dam sensitive and that sensitivity is destroying Americas chance to keep the money here. I know some of you will be pissed at that statement but I say stop being do dam sensitive. Our sensitivities are what is driving business to other countries. That and lawsuits!

RE: Comments by Dee. TNRO fell yesterday & falling today on massive volume. Report mentioned is on citronresearch.com by Andrew Left who is an admitted short-seller. Have never sold short, but would certainly buy puts if available. Hope this of help. Vic

  16. Scammer Sam, October 25, 2007:

Believe it or not I just started playing an online stock game and I purchased a few shares of this one for a joke. Sadly I dropped it just before it hit big. Even as it climbed over $3 I was thinking it would fall. I was surprised it went over $5 but I was not surprised that it fell right back down again!

  17. steve, November 4, 2007:

The reason I googled TNRO was not to research the company but to figure out how the hell to get my number removed from their junk mail list. They fax me on my personal line at home at ungodly hours (this morning at 6:30am or so).

Who is responsible for the faxing and why are they faxing ME? And most importantly, how do I get them to quit waking up my familiy way too early on Sunday morning?

  18. Remo A. Dog, November 7, 2007:

I fled this complaint last Friday. Feel free to draw from it for your next article. Also see my posts as Remoadog on the Yahoo Finance TNRO board. Note particularly new research tiie Natalie Po (daughter of TNRO chairman James Po and herself a board member) directly to TNROE.OB (Terra Nostra Resourc — without the “ec” ) TNROE is mentioned in the complaint as clearly an entity providing false information on the stock. It probably also peddles TNROE stock in some other ways too as TNRO stock which irionicly will be equally worthless one day soon too.

Extensive alleged biographical information available on the TNRO website. I have evidence it is grossly misleading. This will become part of my complaint here. Note this same biographical information has been filed by TNRO with the SEC.

    TNRO website: http://www.tnr-corp.com/english/index.htm

This statement is true for all the parties named below with the exception of Natalie Po though I expect her bio too is misleading.

Mr. Po and his wife have once been strongly disciplined for unreported insider trading and their activities related to Pan Asia Mining Corp for which trading was thence stopped.

    Donald Nicholson (the father)

Mr. Nicholson also has been cited for “making misleading statements” in association with Pan Asia Mining Corp and fined $15,000.

    need ref adress here

Mr. Nicholson is currently the chairman of Pan Pacific Aggrates (symbol PPA - London Stock Exchange). This company is listed on the London stock exchange. The trading history on the London Stock exchange and the company’s financials filed (see AIM on company website to find the conveintly hidden financials) provide ample evidence that this firm too is a scam. (Start with the zero revenue and 800,000 of G&A shown and work your way down.)

    Donald Nicholson (the son)

Per TNRO website he is involved. I have strong suspicions about his bio as well. My evidence here is NOT conclusive but his age, alleged education and experience wouldn’t seem
qualify him for the position with B-Tec, a biycle company his with which this bio credits him. Further while the limited information on that company I have found doesn’t negate it being a real company the following article suggests it an unlikey place for him to be employed and do what his bio claims he has done there.

Mr. Po and Mr. Nicholson have an amazing history of being minimally a director and often either Chairman, CEO, or CFO of firms across a wide span of industries that after a brief (often quite successful) period of activity (mostly but not exclusively) on Canadian exchanges) become delisted.

    See this website: http://infoventure.tsx.com/TSXVenture/TSXVentureHttpController?GetPage=CompanySummary&PO_ID=27945&HC_FLAG2=on

Exploring the link you will find that China Diamond Corp is a “security” of Pan Asia Mining Corp. Exploring the links to “securities” and links to “securities” of those companies you will find a vast web of companies numbering in the hundreds consistant with my statement above. Po and Nicholson are a two man crime wave. (if it somehow comes up showing another company move to Pan Asia Mining Corp.

    ====================
Mr. Nicholson”s (member of the board of TNRO) and strategic advisor biography on the TNRO website and submitted by TNRO in SEC documents is misleading. I have already referenced one website to support this assertion in the bio section above. I am also quite suspicious of this claim to have been “Yarrows Limited, President and CEO, implemented a program for the restructuring and modernizing of the company’s industrial fabrication, shipbuilding and repair operations” My problem here is not with the company but the fact they changed their name from that twice since 1946. I suspect the company is probably real and legit but that Mr. Nicholson has never been its employ.

The very number of postions either as president across an amazing array of industries from mining to ship repair to construction to building atomic reactors strikes me as suspicious even for a man of Mr. Nicholson’s apparent age. Five stints in five different industries as ceo and/chairman of the board? Plus two senior vice presidencies in yet other industries. A very cursive look at these other companies suggests they are legitimate but has Mr. Nicholson worked in the capacities shown for every or any of them. You have resouces far better than mine to make a determination. I only ask the question.

I have posted extensively on the Yahoo board on the subject of TNRO as I did my research. I touch on numerous other suspicious things in my postings on the Yahoo TNRO board as Remoadog. However none of those postings are as clear, damning, and well documented than those I’ve shared above.

Despite having websites on the internet with extensive photo video coverage of alleged physical assets of the two company’s for which TNRO is a joint venture. I strongly doubt they exist as despite extensive publicity of this venture on the Internet with use of their names neither they nor any element of the Chinese government has complained. Also these websites do mention the venture. However, you have already seen in my links above that these scammers are most expert at constructing websites.

    Link to steel company: http://en.qxbx.cn/

Link to copper company: had but cannot readily find right now.

Again you have better resources than do I to look into this matter and I will just provide the alleged partners website addresses. Please note these websites do mention the joint venture

The following website suggest that the parties or related parties have solicited purchase of this stock (at least in layman’s terms. I note the alleged emails received by people posting to this board has words to the contrary about receiving such solicitation

    Put chat board link here

Let me state for the record that contrary to anything I may have said or suggested to the contrary I have no financial interest in the stock of TNRO either short or long. Any thing said about a short position was typical chat board bull.

Also for the record, prior to posting on the TNRO board I had only the most marginal knowledge that TNRO existed and absolutely no knowledge of the individuals named. I have had never met, seen, or had communication via any medium with any of the parties.

Use this area to add any additional information that you wish.

    I neglected to mention:

–the very unusual (to my eye) pattern of insider trading noted in SEC filed documents

–what I believe, as a non-financial professional that the massive numbers of new shares, warrants, convertibles existent and newly issued in the 2nd quarter 2007 laid out in a document filed with the SEC very recently (I believe Oct 22nd without double checking)is very suspicious but since I am not expert in this matters, I’ll leave it to you to judge. With that caveat let say you will find a very recent three or four part post on my take on this filing on the TNRO Yahoo board.

–Some preliminary research I have done on TNRO’s auditors, Rottengerg and company. http://www.rotenbergllp.com/corporate/about_rotenberg.aspx.

They do appear to exist in brick and motar. I looked for a list of clients on their website. There is none however futher research via the Internet produced a list circa seven. The first I explored appeared to be a scam company. I have not as yet looked into the others. You too can easily develop that list by using Google and the search words: “Rottenberg And Company” Rochester”

I suspect but make no accusation they are the choice of scammers needing an audit statement.

You have my name, address, and phone number. I would be pleased to be of any assistance I can if you need any points made above clarified or expanded though I do think the information above pretty much exhausts my best information uncovered.

There may or may not be posts with further information by me on that Yahoo board. I have pretty much made my case and leave any action you think appropriate to you.

While you have my name and contacts I hope an assume I will be treated as a confidential informant. I am a private person and desire no recognition. Even more (much much much more, smile) I don’t desire know friends of the parties named or TNRO.OB knocking on my door.

As an aside do you employ freelancers to research suspected scams via the Internet. Quite candidly, I have enjoyed my role in researching this company and its officers. I am 62 and retired and willing.

Give up the search, Steve. This company is a scam paper company from the word go. If curious see my extensive postings on the subject go to the Yahoo Finance TNRO.OB web page and you will be entertained and amazed that these audacious criminals continue to get away with this scam in broad sight.

I personally have filed an SEC complaint charging the company and its principals with fraud.

I thought I should mention that I just today received an unsolicited fax about TNRO as above. What I thought was most suspect was that this fax already shows Q1 2008 revenue and operating profit figures…! It’s still December 2007!!

  21. al, December 16, 2007:

Does anyone know the fax number these sheets come from ?

You should look to the IR rep on the bottom of the Press Releases…It is the so called ‘ “ceo” of Mercantile Ascendancy..The IR firm is owned by the founder of MN1.COM who is up on SEC charges once again…..Coincidence,,,I think not
