Dell and Tesco Announce European Retail Agreement

DELL

ROUND ROCK, Texas–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Dell™ (NASDAQ:DELL) and Tesco today announced the availability of Dell notebook and desktop computers in Tesco, a premier international retailer with operations in Europe and Asia.

Beginning next month, customers will be able to purchase Dell XPS and Inspiron products in Tesco stores, primarily in the UK, with sales also in Ireland, Poland, Czech Republic, and Slovakia.

With Dell and Tesco’s proven expertise in both supply chain management and manufacturing execution, this agreement is the logical next step in Dell’s evolving global retail strategy.

“With over 13 million customers per week shopping at Tesco’s stores, this deal will result in substantial exposure for Dell’s brand and products,” said Mark Ormerod, Vice President and General Manager, Consumer business for Dell’s Europe, Middle East and Africa operations. “Customers like to experience technology first hand, and can now purchase Dell’s award winning products in a Tesco store convenient to them.”

“We are committed to helping our customers with the latest hi-tech products at great value prices, which makes teaming up with Dell a perfect fit,” said Graham Harris, Tesco Commercial Director. “We are excited to offer our customers in the UK and in Europe a new and award winning brand that was previously only available from the company direct.”

With this agreement, customers will be able to click call or visit to shop and purchase Dell products how they want. Dell products will soon be available in more than 10,000 stores and on-line around the globe. In the past several months Dell has announced relationships with Best Buy in the U.S., DSG International and Carrefour in Europe, Staples in the U.S., Courts stores in Singapore, Gome stores in China, Bic Camera Inc. in Japan, Carphone Warehouse in the UK and Wal-Mart in the U.S., Canada, Brazil and Mexico.

Sam’s Notes

Dell is one of those Christmas stocks that I just love. Last year I missed the boat on Dell stock when it went through it’s holiday surge but not this year.

I like to buy my Dell stock near Thanksgiving. Sometimes before the holiday weekend and sometimes after, it all depends on what the hot products are. This year it is still all about the Nintendo Wii so I figured after the Thanksgiving weekend Dell would drop a few points and be in a prime buying range. (It dropped into the low $23 range in the first week of December.)

Right now Dell is in the $25 price range with some more room to grow. I expect them to hit $30 very soon (hopefully before Mac World because I want to get in on the Apple Stock again before they make their new announcements in early January.)

I have Dell listed in my ticker block on the right side of the site because it is one of the stocks that I believe in. Do you believe in Dell?

Buy Low Sell High

Here is a little bit of free advice to those of you who like to dabble in the stocks from China.

1. If a stock costs you $1.00 and it goes up to $1.10, SELL! That is a 10% gain. If you hold out until it hits $1.20 you may find yourself holding a stock no one wants to buy, except at a lower price.

2. If you see a stock from China rocket up and then sit at the elevated price point for longer than 10 minutes, SELL! Once the momentum slows down the stock is only going to go one way, down.

3. If you are holding a stock from China on a Friday afternoon after 2:00PM that has been going up, SELL! Many people are looking to cash out for the weekend. Sell while it is high and then buy it again after 3:20PM when it is cheap again.

These tips come from my own personal experiences. Just the other day I bought a China stock for $1.80 after seeing it jump from $1.20 earlier in the week. I watched it hit $2.50 and I was thinking that it would continue to rise. After five minutes of no movement I decided to go ahead and sell it. Between placing the sell order and making the sale the stock had dropped to $2.08. I was holding a little over 40,000 shares, you do the math.

I did buy it back an hour later for $2.05 and it is currently back up to $2.25 but I still lost out on $10K in potential profit by not following my instincts and selling the stock when it went stale.

Investing via Email: SHTP.PK

Just this morning I received the following stock tip in my inbox:

In the markets, A unique product is always rewarded, and the company will always soar as long as there is demand and have growing markets to explore.

Now we would like to present a new concept thats been hitting globally and a real company with real and unique product.

Introducing ShotPak (SHTP)

Whats the unique product??

The ShotPak is a new and innovative concept in alcohol packaging. The shot is a single serving shot of alcohol or a Ready-To-Drink (RTD) mixed cocktail in a soft portable pouch. It eliminates the need for you to carry glass bottles, mixers and bar tools when you go out.

When full, the ShotPak is lighter than a 50 ml airplane botle and more convenient to carry. The ShotPak was developed to target people who are enagaged in an active lifestyle and are on the go.

If you don’t believe this works, read their latest press releases and see the craze grow.

Don’t be left out, look into SHTP ShotPak Inc

I left in the typos

So, what do we know about this stock?

52 week range: 0.05 - 0.61

Three month chart:

SHTP

Are you thinking what I’m thinking? What happened in August? At the end of June Shazam Stocks printed an article on Shotpacks. The articles reads well and the product looks promising so why did the stock drop so far?

I also found this article which says the company is trying to find out who owns their stock and what positions those investors are taking with the stock.

Shotpak has also ordered DTC reports for further assessment. Both lists will be utilized to reveal possible short positions.

“Maintaining our shareholders’ rights and enhancing shareholder value are our main goals. We believe that a NOBO list may provide a clue to the recent peculiarities in Shotpak’s stock price movements,” stated CEO Ignus Hattingh.

If you look at the news coming out about this company it looks good. They are signing distribution deals left and right, so why am I getting junk email about them?

Can this stock take off and be good? I’m not sure. What I have to wonder is why, with all their distribution deals going through, no bigger company has gobbled them up?

My personal opinion? As people begin to fear the worst in the world (war, and recession) alcohol sales go up.

Grab UTYW Monday morning.

Notice how both of those emails are nearly identical? They also came from some very dubious sounding domains.

Let’s just throw caution to the wind for a minute or two and look at this amazing stock deal that has just fallen into our lap.

UTYW 6 month

What the heck happened? Did I receive this amazing news several months too late? Way back in May of 2007 this stock went as high as $0.19 per share when it climbed up from $0.09 per share. When I look back through the stock news about this company I saw a few interesting tidbits from May:

Unity Wireless Completes Delivery of Second Order to Vietnam’s Largest Wireless Carrier — MobiFone
Unity Wireless Completes Introduction of the New Management Team

I also saw some information about the company delivering product to Nokia India. With all of this great news why did the stock drop in July? All the news i can find points to more and more orders coming in. Then I noticed something else. I have been seeing a rather high turn over rate among its board of directors. If the company is doing so good why is it having such trouble with the people running it?

Back on August 8, 2007 someone purchased over 1 million shares of this stock at a price of around $0.08 per share. I’m going to make an educated guess that someone is sitting on a large number of shares of this company and they want to sell them at a profit. I am also going to make a guess that there will indeed be good news coming from this company on Tuesday.

I’m going to make one final guess. Due to management problems at the company it will not gain any real benefit from the news on Tuesday.

Don’t just take my word for it, do some investigating of your own and make up your own mind.

Looking Back at Stocks

I think now is a good time to look back at the stock scams I have featured here in the past to see where they are now. I’ll start with the oldest and move forward.

GCME GCME - Greater China Media & Entertainment Corp.

I first wrote about this stock back on December 26, 2006. I had just received an amazing email about how the stock was ready to take off. This was the one that set me on the path to creating scamstocks.com.

Back then it was selling for about $1.00 per share even though the email told me it was going to be available at $0.70 per share with an expected rise to $1.45 in 5 days! Where is this stock today? $0.145 per share. I guess someone placed the decimal point in the wrong place?

WHKA WHKA - World Hockey Association Corp.

My second (and most commented piece) was about the stock WHKA. There was a lot of pump-and-dump news about this one and even though it started out at $0.015 per share it never went anywhere. It is currently trading at $0.0036 per share.

If you look at the chart you can see that it did try to climb a few times but never made it anywhere.

QCPCQCPC - Quantex Capital Corp

QCPC was my third attempt at exposing a scam stock. With a price of $0.44 per share and a 5 day target of $2.00 per share who would want to miss out on this one? I for one would want to pass it up! Why? Because right now it is trading at a whopping $0.0025 per share!

See that big spike at the begining? Someone could have made a small fortune if they hit this one just right. Yes, a savy investor could have doubled their money very quickly. Are you savy enough? I’m not! I have to wonder how many investors saw that second spike in January and jumped in only to see it fall straight to the ground.

Investing via email: VPSN

Another day, another amazing stock offer in my email. This one is for Vision Airships Inc.

VPSN WILL MOVE LIKE A COMET AND ITS ONLY GOING TO GET BETTER! Watch this SUPERNOVA closely MONDAY!

VISION AIRSHIPS INC
Symbol: VPSN
Price: $0.021

BANGKOK, THAILAND, July 2007
Advertising Agencies Ready to Ink Deals!

The company wishes to announce that it is in final negotiations for representation with some of the world’s largest advertising agencies to market and reserve the blimps for there clients.

VPSN THE RISING STAR, IS SET FOR SUPERNOVA STATUS ON MONDAY!

Where’s my broker’s number? I need to call him right now so I can sink my money into this one!

I received this email on Monday July 9, 2007. At that time the stock was trading in the $0.20 per share range. It did not stay there for long.

VSPN

I can’t tell if anyone made money off of this scam. Looking at the chart there were a few trades on July 5, 2007 for under $0.15 per share down to a low of $0.05. Monday morning the stock opened at $0.20 per share but quickly dropped to under a nickel a share. There was a high volume of trading but it all took place while the stock was near a nickel per share.

A large amount of trading did take place and someone might have been able to make a cent or two per share but they would have had to have sold thousands of shares to make it worth their time.

What news hit on Monday to prompt this stock scam? Vision Airships Global Expansion

BANGKOK, THAILAND–(MARKET WIRE)–Jul 9, 2007 — Vision Airships Inc. (Other OTC:VPSN.PK - News) — The company wishes to announce that it has finalized arrangements for funding for its global expansion.

“To be able to secure such favorable financing terms for our expansion plans is extremely exciting for us,” says Somsak Injan, president of Vision Airships. “It goes to show you that others, especially those in the financial community, see the value in what we are creating,” he added.

“This will allow Vision to meet its short and long term goals of providing a viable alternative advertising medium around the world. This will certainly allow us to expand swiftly into other parts of the world,” he continued.

This news was hot on the heals of this one: Advertising Agencies Ready to Ink Deals

BANGKOK, THAILAND–(MARKET WIRE)–Jul 2, 2007 — Vision Airships, Inc. (Other OTC:VPSN.PK - News). The company wishes to announce that it is in final negotiations for representation with some of the world’s largest advertising agencies to market and reserve the blimps for there clients.

I did not know blimps were back in style. Either way this stock is just full of hot air.

Stock Tip
Avoid this one. Blimps may rise but this stock is no blimp.

Joost lands $45 Million in financing

Joost Joost has just announced that five venture capital groups have invested a combined $45 million in the company. Each party has acquired a minority stake in the company. This funding will allow Joost to continue with product development and other needs.

For those who do not know, Joost is a video over the Internet company. They are most often compared to YouTube, which is now owned by Google.

“This funding represents a tremendous vote of confidence in Joost’s platform. We’ve carefully selected these investors from a variety of interested parties, as they are best-in-class in their respective arenas and bring unique assets to Joost that will enable us to significantly accelerate growth and development of the Company.”

said Janus Friis, co-founder of Joost.

    Investors

  • Index Ventures
  • Sequoia Capital
  • Li Ka Shing Foundation
  • Viacom
  • CBS Corporation

Seeing the likes of Viacom and CBS on this list will only further the problems YouTube is having with these two companies. As you may recall, several media companies are currently sueing YouTube to have their content removed from the video sharing service. As investors and content partners in Joost I don’t see any reason (short of Joost failing) for these two companies to let up on YouTube in regards to their content.

Media contributions from CBS and Viacom

  • CSI
  • Survivor
  • NCIS
  • Numb3rs
  • Fat Actress
  • The CBS Evening News with Katie Couric
  • Face the Nation
  • The Early Show
  • 48 Hours
  • CBS Sunday Morning
  • College Football Highlight Show
  • NFL Today Hot Topic
  • Game of the Week
  • One2One
  • Go Pro or Go Home
  • Laguna Beach
  • Beavis and Butthead
  • Real world
  • Punk’d
  • My Super Sweet Sixteen
  • Stella
  • CCP’s
  • Freak Show

Paramount Pictures (part of Viacom) will also be providing full length feature films from its catalog (old and new movies).

Things are really heating up in the online video market. Not only do we have Joost and YouTube but even the phone companies are launching IPTV services. If Joost can land top rated shows from the major networks and provide a reliable service (and a way to get the content to the TV without being a major pain) they can rule the online video marketplace.

I have a Joost invite myself but, my computer does not have the capability to run their client.

Investing via eMail: MGOA

It’s time once again to look over one of those amazing stock offers I have received in my email box. This time we will be looking at MGOA or Megola Inc.

Get MGOA on Monday, Its going to explode!

Trading Date: Monday, Febuary 05, 2007
Company: MEGOLA INC
Symbol: MGOA
Current Price: $0.05
Short Term Target: $0.50
Rating: 10/10
Recommendation: BUY NOW

CORUNNA, ON — (MARKET WIRE) — 02/02/07 Megola Inc. (PKSHEETS: MGOA), a leading environmental solution provider, announced today that it has placed its first order for Hartindo Anti-Fire products, which will be used for product demonstrations and obtaining the required industry approvals. The shipment is set to arrive from Malaysia by the end of February, early March.

This company is going to break into the dollar market yielding MASSIVE returns. Take advantage, get in NOW, make massive returns! This is an ACTIVE and GROWING company.

Get in with MGOA before its over 0.50!

First we take a look at our old standby, Yahoo Finance. Hmmm… It is currently trading at $0.05 per share with a few shares having traded hands on Friday Feb 2, 2007. We have a problem though as there is not enough data available for the Yahoo charts to work.

The news story quoted in the email does appear to be valid so we can take a moment to look it over… Hmmm, they are moving forward with business BUT, this is not a confirmation of success but a confirmation that they are working towards a goal of being approved by various agencies.

If you go to the website for Megola Inc. you can get more information, including some very bad news about their financial status:

Dear Shareholder:

Please accept this brief message explaining the reasoning why we have not filed our year end financials ending July 31, 2006.

Although the financial statements for fiscal year ended July 31, 2006 are not finalized, we anticipate no significant variation in revenue results from the fiscal year ended July 31, 2005.

Megola is currently attempting to complete a large private funding placement which was anticipated to be finalized prior to our required filing period due date. Although we are confident we will secure this funding in the very near future, there is no assurance that we will do so. One factor leading to the late filing is that, due to the aforementioned circumstances, Megola could not meet our financial obligation to our SEC accountant Malone and Bailey LLC. This has resulted in our company’s financials not being immediately addressed and subsequently not being completed in due time.

We apologize for this situation and expect full completion of our financials to be forthcoming.

A complete structured outline of Megola events will be addressed in our SEC filing and future shareholder communications.

Sincerely,

Joel Gardner

I do not know if this email was sent out by a corporate officer hoping to dump some stock or an investor or even someone with an axe to grind. I do not believe this is the time to buy this stock.

If we take a quick look over at money.cnn.com we see some very interesting information about recent trading of this stock. We see that on February second 2007 about 200K shares changed hands and the stock price went from $0.04 to $0.05. This stock has been trading for less than $0.10 for most of the year. Even with the bad news reported by the company in regards to their SEC filing the stock price has not budged much. The only high point for this stock was back in April 2006 when there was a lot of trading and the stock spiked over $0.20.

It looks to me that this bit of good news caused the spike in share price for late March into early April:

Megola’s financial year runs from August 1 to July 31. Megola’s audited 2006 second quarter financials, ending January 31, 2006, show a 784.55% increase in revenue, to $274,616 from $31,046, as compared to the second quarter financials of 2005. Megola’s audited 2006 first quarter financials, ending October 31, 2005, increased 333.54% to $202,187 from $46,636 as compared to the first quarter financials of 2005.

In 2005, Megola’s total revenues increased 220.81% to $713,135 from $222,294 in 2004.

I don’t see anything big happening after that date to indicate why the stock dropped so hard before the end of April, but it did.

If you want to take a chance on this one you might be able to make a few pennies but, more than likely, you will be stuck with a stock no one wants and you can’t sell.

Be warned, don’t buy MGOA!!!
